What I’ve Done

Cave located in Somerset, KY

The cave pictured was located on a project site in Somerset, Kentucky. The electrical resistivity scan below the cave image was conducted directly on top of the cave. Electrical Resistivity Imaging (ERI) was then conducted throughout the project site, mapping out the cave. ERI has been able to map caves, sinkholes, groundwater elevations, and more.

Mapped Sinkhole Conformation

The Kentucky Geological Survey mapped a sinkhole on this project site in Versailles, Kentucky. This sinkhole is pictured, followed by our ERI scan layout. Below the photograph of the mapped sinkhole is the ERI scan that resulted from the scan pictured above.

We were able to confirm this sinkhole for the client by conducting electrical resistivity imagining through the mapped sinkhole, as well as establish estimated size and dimensions. Thoroughbred routinely offers sinkhole delineation as a service.

Dam Exploration

Electrical Resistivity can be used in dam remediation to observe possible leakage areas by pointing out possible saturated areas (shown in blue).

If you would like more information on how Electrical Resistivity Imaging (ERI) can be beneficial for you, please feel free to contact me.
